name: Lyle Dylandy aka Lockon Stratos
●
canon: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
●
canon point: Awakening of a Trailblazer
●
age: 31
●
(canon) background: Lyle Dylandy●
abilities:- Piloting: Lyle
claims he has no experience with piloting and that it is all "beginner’s luck" but he has experience piloting less sophisticated mobile suits while working with the resistance organization Katharon. He began piloting successfully one of the Gundams immediately.
-Shooting: Lyle becomes the team’s sniper, “inheriting” his brother Neil’s position. He seems to have little experience with this prior to being a Gundam pilot but picks it up with what appears to be only help from the orange colored Haro, his brother’s robot. However, the novelization of Gundam 00 states that he has had victories piloting a mobile suit for Katharon so he is not inexperienced, though the level is unknown. His style is different, more frequently engaging in close combat and other methods of long distance combat than traditional sniping from afar. While his first Gundam Cherudim favored his brother’s style, Cherudim’s upgrade favors a mix of close and long range and his mobile suit made for him, Zabanya, takes two Haros to control and uses drones for long distance shooting. He also proves to be able to use a hand gun as well, preparing - but not actually following through - to shoot Setsuna in the back. He is also the one to avenge Neil by shooting Ali Al-Saachez, who had been responsible for the deaths of his entire family.
-Intelligence: Lyle began his work with Celestial Being while still working for the organization Katharon, passing along information to the other group. He is also used for another infiltration mission at the beginning of Awakening of a Trailblazer, disguising himself as a pilot on a shuttle to thwart and assassination attempt.
●
strengths: - Friend: Compared to other members of Celestial Being, Lyle is far more laid-back. His relationship to Katharon aside, he's much more straight forward with the others, even on a brand new team. He's the one trying to lighten the mood, even without right jokes. You can tell he is aware of his own efforts, making a comment once that could have been taken as a joke which was met with silence before Setsuna continued as though nothing had been said, leading Lyle to look put off for a few moments.
- Sense of Justice: Out of college, Lyle joined the paramilitary group Katharon which as the goal of helping those repressed by the government. The decision to join Celestial Being brought about similar motivation. He also doesn't randomly assign blame to something that happened in the past. When Setsuna tells him that he was part of the group that killed his parents and sister, Lyle acknowledges being mad at Setsuna won't change anything.
- Loyalty: Lyle remains loyal to Katharon even as he joins Celestial Being, using his resources to assist both Katharon and Celestial Being alternatively throughout the series. In a weird way, he also demonstrates loyalty to Neil. Despite the issues that he seems to have, he never bad-mouths Neil even to prove he is different than him. In a rather contrary move, he initially asks Neil's robot Haro if his brother had a catchphrase he would say.
●
weaknesses: - Inferiority complex: If you were to ask Lyle for his version of his life, he was always being compared to Neil and coming up with the short straw. As such, his major issue is being compared or perceiving he is being compared to Neil - which WILL change how he acts.
- Rude (with circumstances): This comes through best when he is compared to his brother. He generally picks something that will break their thought that he is like Neil. For Tieria, he called him his "cute instructor". With Feldt, he kissed her upon finding out she had had a crush on his brother, causing her to slap him and run out. When Haro commented, Lyle said it had to be done.
- Smartass: While Lyle is more laid back, periodically he can speak before he thinks. When Celestial Being gets a new pilot / medic, Anew Returner, they developed a mutual attraction to each other. During a private moment where they seemed to be dancing around their feelings, Lyle out of nowhere calls her "dense". She didn't take offense, but this was what he says to the girl he likes.
- Addiction: Lyle is shown to be a smoker early in the Gundam 00 series, shown in series and the credits smoking. He has the potential to end up with the habit again if he quit.
●
housing (optional): No specific preference, but it would be amusing if he lived near his brother Neil
